We created the Foundation and built a Scout Center in South Africa

The Umckaloabo Foundation financed its first major project by building the Scout Center in Mpumalanga, South Africa.
The Africa Runners started out

The Africa Runners laced up their shoes for the first time to raise funds for “A School in Africa.” Sibusiso Vilane from South Africa is a prominent athlete who ran for us at the Cologne Marathon.
We opened St. Ignatius Secondary School in Malawi

The first school financed by the Umckaloabo Foundation opened its doors: the St. Ignatius Secondary School in Nthalire, Malawi. From the first year onward, the school has generated excellent results in terms of the students’ high grades and attained some of the top rankings in national assessments. The Foundation's scholarship program makes it possible for young people from poor families to attend the boarding school.
St. Francis and Clare Secondary School founded in Zambia

In Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, we founded the St. Francis and Clare Secondary School. Today it offers 700 students excellent educational perspectives. Here too, donors help support children whose parents cannot afford to send them to school.
Anniversary project for vocational education

To commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Umckaloabo Foundation, an anniversary project of 480,000 euros is launched to facilitate top-quality vocational education in southern Africa. This is achieved with the help of the network Don Bosco Tech Africa (DBTA), which trains some 30,000 disadvantaged youths and guides them towards professional life.
First graduating class at St. Ignatius - excellent!

The first generation of students at St. Ignatius School graduated, and nearly every student completed their degree. Despite the pandemc and difficult conditions in the rural north, the school offers classes at an excellent level. Five of the ten best students are Foundation scholarship recipients.
We expanded the Ekuphumleni Secondary School in South Africa

With the help of the Africa Runners, the Umckaloabo Foundation donated €110,000 to build six new classrooms, creating better conditions for educators and students at Ekuphumleni Secondary School. The school is a beacon of hope in the disadvantaged region of the Eastern Cape.
Einweihung der St. Mauritius Secondary School in Malawi

St. Mauritius Secondary School, which the 2021 Africa Runners raised funds for, opened in Livingstonia. Under the direction of Madalitso Mbalazada as the principal, the school already came in first in 2024 national rankings.
Better learning conditions at five primary schools in South

The Africa Runners ran to raise money for five elementary schools in Whittlesea and achieved the sensational total of €142,000. Here we work jointly with the Samara Foundation to provide better access to water, improve plumbing, repair roofs and buy books.
Eröffnung der Montessori-Kita Lavel'ilanga in Südafrika
