
AFRICA RUNNERS - RUNNING FOR THE FUTURE
Something that started at the Cologne Marathon in 2015 has now become a worldwide initiative: The Africa Runners. The idea of promoting fun runs to support schools in southern Africa allowed us to create a broader foundation for the educational projects we help finance there. At the time, the first generation of runners laced up their sneakers for a very specific goal: building St. Ignatius Secondary School in Malawi. Together they raised €33,000.
A GLOBAL COMMUNITY
Quite a bit has happened since then. The number of people who have joined our ranks is constantly rising, as is the number of countries in which they are active.

Nowadays, people from all over the world help raise funds for our school-building projects: to name only a few countries, there are Africa Runners in Japan, the US, Germany, Malawi, Spain, India and many other places. The people who take part cover the entire spectrum from ambitious extreme marathon runners to elementary-school children to senior citizens and everything in between.
The Africa Runners have become a global community which creates hope and perspectives with every step they take. With our 2024 fundraising total of a sensational 142,000 euros, we can rightfully say that things are really running well!
RUNNING OUR WAY TO A NEW SCHOOL
There is other good news in this anniversary year: The Schwabe Group has increased the amount of its contribution and matches funds at a higher rate than before: now it doubles funds up to a total of €75,000.
