Bischof Martin und Pfarrer John Moyo, Projektpartner der Umckaloabo-Stiftung in Malawi

In all of its projects, the Umckaloabo Foundation joins forces with experienced partner organizations which understand local structures and have well-established networks in their area. We have been working with some of these groups from the very beginning since the Foundation was first created. The cornerstone of the success accomplished by our projects is the long years of personal contact with competent partners we trust.

Nangu Thina

Our most important partner is the charitable organization Nangu Thina, where young people do volunteer work to help children and young people in southern Africa so they can help themselves. The organization was formed when Scouts in Germany collaborated with Scouts in South Africa. Its goal is to promote intercultural understanding.

Scouts in Mpumalanga

In South Africa we have been working with the Scouts of Mpumalanga for over 15 years. They offer children and teenagers a community with solid values, meaningful projects and workshops, and assistance that makes a difference in challenging situations. The first major project operated by the Umckaloabo Foundation led to the Scout Center in Mpumalanga, now the heart and soul of the region’s Scout activities.

Louisa Feiter, Gründerin der Samara Foundation

Samara Foundation

Louisa Feiter and the Samara Foundation are our partners in Eastern Cape, South Africa. The Samara Foundation works with daycare centers to assist, promote and network them; it concentrates on rural parts of Eastern Cape as well as a few areas in Cape Town. In recent years we were also able to collaborate towards the additional goal of supporting primary and secondary schools.

Loice Kashangura / Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa

In Zambia, our partner is the Franciscan nun Loice Kashangura. Her help enabled us to achieve one of our lighthouse projects, the St. Francis and Clare Secondary School in Lusaka. Another major school project in the Choma region is scheduled for 2025.

Jonas Schumacher, Mitbegründer und Leiter des Bildungszentrums Masifunde

Masifunde

Jonas Schumacher and the Masifunde educational center are our partners in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. This is a venue where all sorts of topics come together: early childhood education, supporting and assisting children and young people on an academic, creative and personal level, and professional development.

Don Bosco Mondo

The Salesian order of Don Bosco is our trusted partner and guide when it comes to vocational training – both in Malawi as well as farther afield in sub-Saharan Africa.

Bischof Martin und Pfarrer John Moyo, Projektpartner der Umckaloabo-Stiftung in Malawi

Karonga and Mzuzu dioceses

In the Karonga and Mzuzu diocese in Malawi, we have found dedicated and competent partners: Bishop Martin and Father John Moyo. With their help we have already accomplished a number of different educational projects. Special mention should be made of St. Ignatius Secondary School and St. Mauritius Secondary School, which we helped build and which rank among the nation’s best schools.

In all of our projects, we rely on people we trust who implement their work with a sense of commitment and expediency. This is the key to our success. After all, the Umckaloabo Foundation is not about providing one-off cash infusions: it stands for long-term cooperative endeavors based on goodwill.
