MALAWI – Excellent final diplomas and honey from the school hives
2023-08-09
The St. Ignatius of Loyola secondary school in Nthalire was pleased to report two different kinds of good news in the summer of 2023!
Exzellent final diplomas
A large number of scholarship recipients completed secondary school this year, and they did so well in their final grades that many of them will go on to attend a public university! In other words, they can now pursue an academic career if they choose. Not only did their own ambition help them reach this goal, but so did the support of their scholarship sponsors.
Many thanks to all of their sponsors! Now these young people have the opportunity to leave poverty behind them permanently by going to college or choosing a solid vocational education.
Not only have the students been busy as a bee …

… but the bees themselves have been hard at work as well. Five hives were built on school grounds, and the honey they produce is extremely popular, not only among the students but in the neighborhood as well. The proceeds of the honey sales allows the school to help support students whose families have a difficult time paying for tuition. The five hives are just the start: if this project goes well, more hives can be purchased.
