The community of Kamene in Chitipa District, northern Malawi, has received two new school buildings, each containing two classrooms, for the local secondary school, which serves students from Grades 1 to 7. During a formal inauguration ceremony, the Umckaloabo Foundation, together with the Diocese of Karonga, officially handed over the completed classrooms to the local community.
Better learning conditions create better opportunities for children ...
Representatives of the Diocese of Karonga, local authorities, and community members attended the handover ceremony. In their remarks, they emphasized the importance of the school expansion for a region where access to quality education is often limited. The new classrooms will significantly improve learning conditions and enable more young people to attend school.
... and for the community of Chitipa
Mrs. Elize Siame, spokesperson for the School Committee, expressed the community’s aspirations with these words: “We hope that our students will go on to higher education and one day return to Chitipa and Kamene as doctors, teachers, and public servants.”
With the successful completion of this project, the Umckaloabo Foundation continues its longstanding and trusted partnership with the Diocese of Karonga. Together, we are committed to creating lasting opportunities through education and making a sustainable contribution to the region’s long-term development.
